Elektrolytes ABDC Week 5

If you haven't been keeping up, the Elektrolytes out of Gilbert, AZ gave another great performance on MTV's America's Best Dance Crew in week 5 of the competition. The storyline, choreography, and athleticism displayed during this performance were amazing and truly show that this group of dancers continues to grow from week to week. Monday Event Updates

Funked Up Mondays Long Wong's Tempe, AZMonday night has never been known as a party night. That is not to say there is nothing to do on Mondays. After a hard weekend of partying, and Monday bringing us back to the beginning of another week of work, there are some great events to help take the edge off. The Event Calendar gives a full listing of the events and we will be checking them out over the next couple of the weeks. There are a couple though that stand out above the rest. One of which is Funked Up Mondays at Long Wong's Tempe, AZ. Funked Up Mondays features resident DJs Brad B and Geehad as well as Live Blues. With a combination like this you can't go wrong, and assuming that Long Wong's Famous Wings will be served this seems like the perfect spot to spend a Monday Night after a hard Monday's work.

Free the Style -Bridging the Gap-

Free the Style Cyphers Phoenix, AZThe Free the Style -Bridging the Gap- Jam on April 29th @ Cyphers Center for Urban Arts lived up to its name in every way. This 2 on 2 battle featured teams composed of 1 B-Boy/B-Girl and one Open Style Dancer. Because of the format the music one song was a Break Beat and the song for the second round was whatever genre the DJ wanted to play. Dj Tyga killed it. One of the greatest things about opening a Jam to Open Styles is that it also allows not just a wider group of participants but really opens up the age range of the participants as well. Free the Style was a perfect example. This event was a collaboration between The Jukebox Studio and Cyphers Center for Urban Arts. As an extra treat, towards the end of the night there was a great Exhibition Battle between instructors of both camps. Needless to say the battle was crazy and both camps pulled out all the stops. The instructors were clearly having a a lot of fun while still showing mutual respect. The photos from the Free the Style Jam are currently posted in the Photo Gallery under the Hip-Hop 2012 section. Check them out to get a better picture of the event.
